What is RCA

RCA stands for Radio Corporation of America, by the name of the electronics company born in 1919. There are two types of RCA video signals: composite and component signals.

The RCA composite type signal provides up to a 480i resolution, which, considering NTSC signals, in NTSC DV supports a 720x480 pixels resolution. The RCA composite cable, referred to even as phono connector, uses signals in three channels and so it is made up of three connectors, one video channel with a yellow plug, and two stereo audio channels with a red and a white plugs.

The RCA component type signal is better than the composite one because it is capable of 3 times the data capacity of only one composite signal because it is made up of three RCA connections with a red, a green and a blue plugs for the video signal, and usually even two plugs for the audio signal.

For all these reasons, the full HD high definition can be achieved with a VGA to RCA component adapter. The VGA to RCA component converter is a PC to HDTV converter which provides up to a full HD 1080p resolution, which is a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.
